DISPENSING & HAZARDOUS AREA REGULATIONS

Automatic Ink Paint Chemical Dispensing, Dispenser & Blending Systems for Fluids, Liquids & Pastes

Rexson has a history of supplying Dispensing Systems to highly exacting standards and conforming to a wide range of global approvals. Rexson are familiar with recognised approvals (CE, BASEEFA, TUV, PTB, FM, UL, CSA etc.,) and standards (EN, NFPA, AS, IEC, etc.,) and comply to European 'New Approach' directives including ATEX 94/9/EC.

The Rexson solvent dispensing system range has full system ATEX certification (since 2002) and was awarded the highest possible conformity grading.

Within the E.U. all new Hazardous Area equipment must be ATEX approved, with suitable certification and documentary evidence as proof of approval. Rexson launched a range of market leading, up-to-date dispensers that have been designed to conform to ATEX directives. Complete system conformity and production licence certificates are available upon request. See below for more detail.

ATEX CERTIFICATION

Since the 1st July 2003, all new equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres must comply with ATEX Directive 94/9/EC, introduced under Article 100a of the Treaty of Rome. The Directive applies to any equipment that will or may be used in an explosive atmosphere. Manufacturers of products intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres must, under this directive, provide assurance that their equipment will not cause an explosion during routine operation.

As of this date, all equipment within the scope of the Directive must comply with the requirements of the Directive and bear the Ex Mark and CE Marking in order to be placed on the market or put into service within the EU.

Equipment cannot be CE marked if it does not adhere to the requirements of all applicable directives. From 1st July 2003, hazardous area equipment covered by ATEX will need to comply with ATEX and any other applicable directives in order to be CE marked. After this date, it will be illegal for products to remain on the market without the Ex and CE Marks.

EXISTING NON-ATEX EQUIPMENT

Existing systems are allowed to remain in active service and can be repaired and restored as required, as long as no substantial modifications are made.

There is scope within the ATEX directive to re-furbish, re-install or re-sell older non-ATEX equipment. However, limitations apply on the level of refurbishment, upgrade and modification allowed and as such Rexson are required to judge each request on a case-by-case basis. The re-lifing or relocation of older non-ATEX equipment has implications within DSEAR regulations which should also be considered.
